Official Handbook
Introduction
The purpose of this handbook is to inform you of your basic duties as a reporter, and to give you information of our rules, regulations, and general day to day information. By the time you are finished reading this book, you will have a basic understanding of how you will commit yourself to being a news reporter for SANews.
Things to Report on
With all that happens in the city, there is a myriad of simple and controversial topics that you can discuss. Here's a couple suggestions.
Bank robberies - Although frequent, sometimes these can garner a lot of attention. People like to hear about things like this, because it gathers a lot of attention from the police, and usually has a lot of action.
Laws / Taxes - People need to know if the taxes have increased or decreased. Likewise, it is helpful to keep them informed on new laws that are going into effect, so they can stay out of trouble.
Public opinion - Sometimes, a controversial law, event, or incident will take play in people's lives. It can be nice to gather the public opinions and broadcast them to Los Santos. It's nice to feel like there's someone who agrees with you, especially if you're hearing their thoughts on the radio.
Weather reports - Usually the weather in Los Santos is sunny and warm, but every once in a while it turns bad. We can update people on the weather and remind drivers to turn their lights on when it's rainy or foggy.
Public service announcements - Sometimes people need to know about specific events or reminders. Announcements could involve tax returns, police looking for drivers not wearing seatbelts, or maybe some outbreak of the newest influenza.
Special events - When there's nothing newsworthy going on, we can host some events. Some examples would be a marathon, a quiz show, or a beach party. Please note though, we are a news station and not Game Show Network. These should be done sparingly and only when there's nothing else going on. All money donated to a contest should be given to the winner(s). You are not allowed to keep any for yourself or attempt to scam people. Events must be well planned, and so you will need to have someone with experience in town to assist. You will need permission from a rank three or above before starting any special events.
There's many different things you can report on, and these are just a few suggestions. It's up to you to get creative and come up with something that the people will enjoy listening to.

Crime in the Faction
SANews has a rather simple crime policy. You MUST follow all laws set fourth by the San Andreas government. We have a moral standpoint on this and we understand your needs. There is a difference between having a joint in your pocket and having 200 grams of crack in your bag. There is also a difference between having a desert eagle holstered and having an assault rifle out in the open. If you are caught with anything illegal and are charged, legal action will be taken by law enforcement. Please remember, however, you can only be fired by a leader of SANews as long as we are not funded by the government.
Your Equipment
Here is a selection of the equipment you will need to possess to report the news. Some of it is mandatory, some of it is optional, some of it you will not have access to right away in your SANews career.
Identification Card
Every SANews employee must carry this with them AT ALL TIMES. Even if you are off duty, you need this, because you never know when a news event might take place right in front of you. This ID card has your name, picture, date of birth, and position in SANews.
SANews Radio
Every SANews employee must carry this when they are on duty AND when they aren't. You will use this to quickly talk to other members about a news story, something you see that can be newsworthy, to set up broadcasts, to set up interviews, or to just meet up/regroup.
Camera
It is imperative that you carry a camera. It is inevitable that you will need it to document an event, or to gather evidence for a story.
News Van
You need equipment to broadcast on the radio whenever you are away from the station. The news van carries this equipment. In here you will find microphones and a portable transmitter that will allow you to drive anywhere in Los Santos and continue to broadcast.
Personal Car Equipment
We provide our correspondents and anchors personal car equipment so you always have something to report with while on the move. We realize that sometimes you may be off duty but run into a breaking news situation. In that case, you would need equipment to broadcast inside your personal car. The equipment isn't too complicated. This is only to be used in the event that you run into a breaking news story.
Paychecks
Each week the SANews will be receiving a large sum of money for paychecks. This money is distributed by the Governor at the City Hall. A date is scheduled every week on which all staff will report to the City Hall and obtain a pay check. Sometimes two sessions are held for those who cannot attend due to a time zone difference.
